At our riding school, we teach riding and foster meaningful connections and a sense of community among our students. Our Facility

Welcome to our facility!

Conveniently located just 2+ miles from I-30, we are perfectly situated to offer you the best of both worlds - a serene out-of-town experience while still being close to all the conveniences of town.

One of our standout features is our primary arena, which boasts a sand surface enhanced with bio-degradable footing additives. This innovative approach reduces our water consumption and keeps the footing less dusty, creating a more pleasant and comfortable riding experience for both horses and riders alike.

In addition to its foot-friendly surface, our primary arena is blessed with majestic oak trees. These beautiful trees provide much-needed respite during the summer heat, creating a cool and refreshing environment to enjoy your time with your equine companion. Even in the evenings, these shade trees offer a picturesque backdrop, making every ride a memorable experience.

Our stable is second to none. With a six-stall barn, we can ensure that each horse receives the individual attention they deserve. Our tack room is equipped, allowing for easy access and organization of equipment. Additionally, we have a spacious and comfortable classroom/lounge area with bathroom facilities, making it a perfect space for riders to gather, learn, and bond.

Meet Our Team

Meet Cesile Owens,

Student Success Coach

Cesile Owens has been actively involved in the horse industry for over 12 years. Her passion for horses and the desire to share her knowledge with others inspired her to become a riding instructor/coach. Cesile believes that horse people are the best kind of people to be around, making her job even more enjoyable.

What Cesile loves most about working with horses is the constant learning experience they provide. No matter how long she has been with them or how much she thinks she knows about horses, there is always something new to discover. Cesile currently owns four horses, with two of them been with her for 20 years since she was a child. Penny and Lickity hold a special place in her heart. Her other two horses are retired racehorses that she enjoys trail riding.

When it comes to her teaching/coaching style, Cesile admits that she has never been a "teacher" until joining us at AHHA. However, she has surprised herself with how well she has adapted to teaching. Being a show-and-do kind of learner, she tries to find different ways for her students to understand and learn effectively. She has experience in various riding disciplines, including western, roping, barrels, poles, trail riding, and even riding racehorses as an exercise jockey.

Cesile's favorite part about working with beginner riders is witnessing their love and excitement for horses. She believes everyone should have the opportunity to experience the greatness of these magnificent animals. Creating a friendly atmosphere in her riding lessons is essential to her. Cesile encourages students to have fun, make friends with fellow riders, and enjoy learning about horses.

As a riding instructor/coach, Cesile demonstrates her passion for horsemanship by sharing her lifelong love for horses with her students. She aims to keep the equine industry alive and well by passing on her knowledge and ensuring that new generations learn the right ways to care for and ride horses.

Challenges and setbacks during training sessions or lessons are no hindrance for Cesile. She believes in trying different approaches until a solution is found. Just like people, horses learn in various ways, and Cesile adapts her methods accordingly.

To continue improving her own horsemanship skills and knowledge, Cesile keeps an open mind and lets horses teach her daily. She also seeks guidance from more experienced horse people who can offer valuable insights.

Her deep love for horses sets Cesile apart as a riding instructor/coach. She considers it a privilege to share her passion with others, particularly the new generations of riders. Cesile is eager to guide students on their equestrian journey, students can rest assured that they will receive knowledge and guidance rooted in a genuine love for these amazing animals. Cesile's dedication to teaching and ensuring the well-being of horses will make their experience extraordinary.

Meet Angie Hughes,

Owner & Founder


Angie Hughes has been actively involved in the horse industry for over 30 years. Her love for horses and her desire to make the world a better place for them inspired her to become a riding instructor/coach. She believes that teaching others about the incredible things that can be accomplished with horses and showcasing their sensitivity and beauty is the best way to contribute to their well-being.

One of Angie's favorite aspects of working with horses is the dance between horses and riders. She finds joy in witnessing meaningful progress and the connection between horse and rider that makes it difficult to differentiate where one ends and the other begins. Angie is fascinated by the subtle communication and graceful movements that horses allow us to experience.

At AHHA, Angie personally trained each of the school horses. Each horse has a unique story and valuable skills to teach riders. She loves watching these incredible horses teach and share their magic with students.

Angie describes her teaching/coaching style as focused on providing students with the necessary skills for success. As a lifelong learner, she believes in constantly expanding her own knowledge and educating riders to have a solid foundation. Angie recognizes that accidents can happen, so she emphasizes the importance of a strong foundation that enables students to read horses, situations, and make safe decisions.

In terms of qualifications, Angie is an accredited Riding Instructor, Coach, and Horse Trainer. She completed a rigorous program that was the equivalent of achieving a master's degree in coaching and instructing. Angie's diverse experience includes working as an assistant horse trainer in various disciplines, participating in United States Pony Club, assisting in starting colts and training cutting horses, and training AQHA world & Congress champion all-around horses.

While Angie has experience in various riding disciplines, her specialties include Cowboy Dressage, Stock Horse Shows, Western Dressage, and Dressage. She is the president-elect of the NETX Dressage Club, a USDF GMO affiliate, offers youth and beginner-friendly events.

Working with riders brings Angie great joy. She loves witnessing the passion and excitement that horses evoke in people. Creating a friendly atmosphere is important to Angie, and she ensures that having fun and learning about horses are the main focus of her lessons. Drama is not tolerated, and she strives to foster a positive and enjoyable environment.

Demonstrating her passion for horsemanship to her students is crucial to Angie. She shares her lifelong love for horses and hopes to keep the equine industry alive and thriving by instilling the same passion in others.

In challenging moments during training sessions or lessons, Angie breaks down the task into smaller pieces and celebrates small victories. She emphasizes the importance of step-by-step progress to ensure that no steps are skipped.

Angie's dedication to improving her horsemanship skills and knowledge is unwavering. She considers herself a lifelong learner and consistently seeks opportunities to grow and develop as an educator and rider.

What sets Angie apart as a riding instructor/coach is her genuine love for horses. It is a privilege for her to share this passion with others. Her knowledge and expertise help new all ages learn the right ways to care for horses, ensuring their well-being while enabling riders to thrive in their equestrian journey.
